The best news, ever......

On  Tuesday, my honey had his long day at the Cancer Center.......Infusions of Zometa to strengthen his bones and IVIG to boost his immune system. All the monthly labs were done.

He has been on a "Chemo Vacation" since May 26 - exactly two months, and he's still in remission....CR, whatever......his numbers are good.....no, great.....his labs are great!!

He's feeling better, by the day. He's up and around.  (Yes, I'm knocking on wood, as I report this....no jinxing this time!)

Thank you for all your prayers, and good thoughts...and Thank you Lord!!

  3. you are so welcome! things are moving along with us - i started radiation this week after very succesfull chemo, then surgery for breast cancer. hugh has his big appt. with the myeloma specialist next friday, nearly 18 mos. post his last SCT. he has been doing well, but is having periods of lower GI disturbance - we believe it's a side effect of the gabapentin which has been titrated up to 1800 mg/day. this is a scenario i know you and bob can relate to - side effects that sometimes feel worse than what one's takes the medication for. argh!!! hopefully, his body will adjust to the new dosage and the lomotil will help ease the transition. but it's a little scary - so just trying to not think of the "what ifs". thanks for your good wishes, and hugs to you, karen

    1. Karen: Unbelievable that both of you have had to face cancer. So glad that your Chemo was successful and hoping the radiation does not cause any issues.

Bob took Neurontin and had GI problems because of it....but then he has GI problems if any meds change!! You're so right, the side-effects often seem to negate the positives.

Please email me at sarah_gorrell@yahoo.com and let me know how Hugh's onc. appt. went and how you're doing. That will be much easier than trying to communicate, here.

      Hugs....

    1. Denise: He's feeling so much better. Got his pain meds adjusted, and one discontinued...and that seems to have helped so much.

Hope that you have a wonderful vacation in NH. That's such a beautiful region, in the fall, when the colors are ablaze.

      Hugs...

  5. Hi,I am writing from CureTalk, a medical research and health care blog. CureTalk is the blog site of TrialX, an online platform that enables patients to find trials near them.
CureTalk is excited to launch a whole new series of monthly Cure Panels in which we plan to invite experts/patients/bloggers to discuss latest treatments being developed for a specific condition. We are kickstarting the venture with a Myeloma Cure Panel.
Dr. Ravi Vij, has agreed to be the expert on the panel and bloggers can dial in and listen. It would be great to have you on board. For more details of the myeloma panel click here, http://trialx.com/curetalk/2012/07/myeloma-cure-panel/.
If interested, please do let me know.
    Thanks and Regards
